South Africa, also known as the “Rainbow Nation” due to its diverse ethnicities, cultures, and languages, is committed to establishing a society where people of different races and backgrounds can live in harmony, respect, and equality. Today, South Africa has one of the largest economies in the continent of Africa. It is mixed market economy of private enterprise and government intervention. It is also rich in mineral resources, particularly gold, platinum, and diamond, which makes mining a crucial contributor to the economy. South Africa is also committed to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With a turbulent history of apartheid, South Africa is deeply committed to restoring the dignity of its people by working on eradicating poverty (Goal 1) and reducing inequality (Goal 10) along with development and transformation.

Interestingly, South Africa doesn’t have one but three capital cities. While Cape Town is the legislative capital, Pretoria is the administrative capital and Bloemfontein is the judicial capital. The nation also celebrates a rich diversity of traditions and languages. Here, various ethnic groups such as Zulu, Xhosa, Afrikaans and many others embrace their unique heritage. It also recognizes 11 official languages including Afrikaans and English.

South Africa’s landscape is a tapestry of breathtaking diversity. From the golden savannahs to rugged mountains to pristine beaches, this country is a treasure trove of natural wonders. South Africa is also a wildlife haven. It is home to the Big Five – the African elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhinoceroses.
