- About the Study Abroad In UAE
The UAE’s rise from a modest trading hub to a dominant force in international business is impressive and inspiring. Officially formed in 1971, the UAE is a young country wedged between Oman and Saudi Arabia in the Middle East (Western Asia). It consists of seven different emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, and Fujairah. Abu Dhabi is the nation’s capital, while Dubai,
its most populated city, is an international hub.
Interestingly, Dubai is the regional headquarters of 70% of the largest Fortune 500 companies and home to two of the world’s largest ports. It has also adopted smart and future-oriented strategies such as establishing free trade zones, removing income tax, and investing heavily in infrastructure—giving it a world-class look—to make it an appealing destination for expatriates to work and live there. Today, the UAE is home to over 200 nationalities, with over 88% of the population consisting of immigrants.
The UAE is also a strong advocate for advancing the UN SDGs. It formed a National Committee in 2017 to implement the SDGs. The National Committee collaborates with different stakeholders locally and internationally to broaden ownership of the 2030 Agenda.
The UAE provides a unique cultural experience that combines traditional values with modernity. It offers an exhilarating range of attractions, including the Burj Khalifa, the Museum of the Future, desert safaris, man-made islands, futuristic cities, and spice and gold souks (traditional marketplaces).
