About Community-Based Learning Programs

Our locations serve as laboratory for critical global issues, a perfect context in which to explore complexities and challenges related to the implementation of UN SDGs. As such, Authentica’s Community-Based Learning portfolio centers on the subcontinent as its classroom. In addition to active learning pedagogies, and intentional engagement with local communities, our Community-Based Learning are enhanced by interactive workshops, design-thinking activities, hands-on fieldwork, and facilitated reflection sessions.

    Community-based learning programs outside your familiar environment will help you know and understand the challenges faced by communities in other parts of the world. By living in a community with a different cultural setting, you will also be able to overcome the inhibitions of meeting and working with new people and develop empathy and cross-cultural competence.

    While community-based learning and volunteering have a lot in common, the basic difference is that in the community-based learning program, you are studying and volunteering at the same time.
