Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Study Abroad Programs - Part 2:
Explore Our Insightful Articles on DEI
Dear International Educators,
As we welcome the exciting year 2024, we wish you a Happy New Year! We hope this newsletter finds you rejuvenated and ready to embark on another enriching journey in international education. Building on the insights and discussions from our previous newsletter, we present Part 2 of our series on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Study Abroad Programs. In this edition, we dive deeper into the nuances of DEI, focusing on creating more inclusive and supportive experiences for all students, particularly those from the LGBTQ+ community and those with special needs.
In our recent study abroad program for MBA students in Taiwan, the participants had the opportunity to visit the 228 Peace Memorial Park in Taipei, a significant site renowned as a gathering place for the LGBTQ+ community. This visit was particularly meaningful, considering Taiwan’s groundbreaking achievement in becoming the first Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage in 2019. The photo above captures our participants standing on Rainbow Six, a vividly colored, symbolic installation that reflects Taipei City’s dedication to human rights. This notable landmark serves as a testament to the city’s ongoing commitment to promoting sexual equality and fostering a gender-friendly environment.
