AI, Analytics, and Data Dynamics in Chinese Economy
- China
Sustainable Development Goals in Action
Program Overview
China sees artificial intelligence as a national priority and aims to become the premier global AI centre by 2030. Some industry reports predict that China’s AI market will reach US $26.44 billion in 2026. China’s ability to successfully integrate online, offline, and logistics data into a single value chain makes it stand out from its competitors. However, China is not without its challenges, as seen most starkly in the emergence of an artificial intelligence assisted ChatGPT writing tool in the US. Other factors hindering China’s progress include the strict government regulation of this sector as well as the fact that most Chinese talent is based in the US.
This program seeks to understand the factors shaping the development of AI, analytics, and data driven operations in the Chinese economy. Students will visit China’s technology giants to observe first-hand how these companies are relying on AI to bolster their businesses and understand the challenges they face. Meeting with technology experts, policy analysts, and visiting institutes that develop talent for the technology sector will enable students to comprehend these topics within a broader context. In addition, students will experience immersive and fun activities that will provide them with insights into Chinese history and culture.
