This faculty-led engineering study abroad program in South Korea is a six-week immersion for engineering, electrical and computer engineering, and STEM students. It centres on a multi-week academic residency at one of Asia's premier engineering universities — circuit design and semiconductor manufacturing — with visits to major Korean technology companies and a community human-centred design project, across Seoul, Gyeongju, Pohang, Ulsan and Busan.

At the core of this faculty-led program is a multi-week academic residency at one of Asia's premier engineering universities, where students study circuit design, semiconductor manufacturing, and the latest developments in electronics. The residency is paired with hands-on industry visits and a human-centered community design project, in which small teams integrate circuitry, sensors, and 3D-printed components to address authentic local needs in areas such as assistive technology, accessibility, and sustainability.

Woven through the program is deep cultural immersion — a Buddhist temple stay, traditional cooking and K-pop dance classes, the UNESCO heritage of ancient Gyeongju, and a visit to the DMZ — alongside hands-on professional work such as a human-centered community design project. Moving across Seoul, Gyeongju, Pohang, Ulsan, and Busan, students build strong skills in engineering practice, human-centered design, cross-cultural competency, and responsible global citizenship.
