We're matching every dollar you give to Nepal flood relief
On 26 August, a glacier collapse on the Nepal–Tibet border sent ice, rock and water down the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli valleys. Villages, roads and bridges across Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading are gone.
As of this week, Nepali authorities have confirmed hundreds of deaths and close to a thousand people still missing, most of them foreign travelers and pilgrims. Both numbers are still rising, and a barrier lake formed upstream by the collapse remains a risk.
This is the kind of place our industry runs on. Guides, drivers, guesthouse owners — the people who make travel and study in the Himalaya possible in the first place. Rebuilding will take years. Right now, the need is rescue, shelter and relief.
