Virtual Global Learning

While movement of people across borders has been temporarily impacted due to COVID-19, goods, services and ideas continue to cross international borders at an ever-increasing rate. Authentica is committed to supporting higher education institutions stay relevant to its students. We are evolving the design and delivery of our offerings to be applicable both during the pandemic and beyond.

We can help you achieve your institution’s global learning objectives in one of three ways:

1. Internationalize classrooms

Internationalize classrooms through global speaker sessions and virtual cultural immersions where we can help you bring the world into your classroom through lectures and workshops

2. Custom-design programs

Custom-design programs for short-term faculty-led, service-learning and internship programs. These can be designed for in-person context (with a virtual backup) or for pure virtual contexts

3. Training and consultative services

Provide training and consultative services to your study-abroad faculty and staff to help them develop powerful experiential learning courses/programs

Customized Global Learning Offerings

These three types of offerings can help you generate/maintain the momentum on global learning at your campus.

1. Internationalize Classrooms

Global speaker series

These are guest lectures by global subject matter experts (practitioners and/or academics) in the area of curricular focus to enrich / reinforce concepts that your faculty is teaching. Many of these lectures will be pre-recorded, while some can be live (time zones permitting.) In either scenario, the experts will be available to answer questions from faculty and students, thus helping to cement the learning. Contact us with your curricular focus areas so we can share a list of experts who can address these topics.

The speaker sessions are priced at $500 per 60-90 mins session/lecture.

Virtual cultural immersions

These are experiential cultural activities that both engage and educate the students in the rich, local culture of various destinations in Asia. Many of these immersions will be pre-recorded, while some can be live (time zones permitting.) We encourage students to roll-up their sleeves and fully immerse in the activity to get the maximum curricular / co-curricular value from the engagement.

Virtual cultural immersions are priced at $500 per 60-90 mins session.

Global consultancy projects

These are team-based projects with host organizations across Asia that provide faculty with the opportunity to enable students to apply their learning in a real-world context. Many of these host organizations are working on one or more UN Sustainable Development Goals, thus providing students meaningful opportunities to create impact while they cement their learning by applying theory to practice.

Authentica will:

  • match the faculty with an appropriate host organization
  • scope projects so they are appropriate for student-level, team-size, and course duration
  • make available professional-grade project management tools for students (with visibility for faculty across various teams)
  • arrange for client presence (virtually) for final presentations/demonstrations by student teams

Faculty can choose to allocate one team per project or have all teams working on the same project.

Global consultancy projects are priced at $1,500 per project.

2. Custom-Designed Programs

Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Programs

Our COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) program successfully fosters cross-cultural student competence through the development of multicultural learning environments that link university or college classes in different countries. We integrate a speaker series and a virtual internship as part of the offering. This program is designed to foster collaboration between local students and students at your university working together on an internship with a company based in the host country.

Per student costs for our COIL programs vary from $865 (4-weeks) to $1160 (8-weeks) when you manage the local univeresity relationship and we manage the speaker series and virtual internship. The costs vary from $1295 (4-weeks) to $1660 (8-weeks) for a model where we source and manage the local university and the students, in addition to the speaker series and virtual internship.  

Faculty-led programs

We can collaborate with your faculty to help them efficiently create faculty-led programs in Asia to help achieve intended learning outcomes. We include the option to run this program virtually, should an in-person program not be feasible due to COVID-19 or other reasons. Our services include helping to develop the itinerary/agenda for the program, lining up content partners (people/organizations to meet with) in the destination, and recommending logistics for the program.

Charges for design assistance with faculty-led programs is $1,990 per program, which is waived if we deliver the program for you.

Service learning programs

Similar to faculty-led programs above, we can collaborate with your faculty / study-abroad staff to help them efficiently design service-learning programs in Asia that provide meaningful opportunities for students to connect with local communities and create impact. We include the option to run this program virtually, should an in-person program not be feasible due to COVID-19 or other reasons. Our services include helping to develop the itinerary / agenda for the program, lining up content partners (host organizations we’ll be working with) in the destination and recommending logistics for the program.

Charges for design assistance with service-learning programs is $1,990 per program, which is waived if we deliver the program for you.

Managed Academic Internship Program (MANTRA)

The Managed Academic iNTernship pRogrAm (MANTRA) is a partnership solution for academic institutions to co-create and offer meaningful, impactful and high-quality academic internships. We enhance employability for undergraduate and graduate students across various disciplines by curating, managing and supporting appropriately-scoped internship projects with carefully vetted host organizations. Our host organizations span the spectrum from start-ups and social enterprises to large, multi-national corporations whose work is aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals. Minimum cohort size for MANTRA is 12 students. The program can be applied for both in-person and virtual contexts.

Prices start from $895 per student and vary based on mode (virtual vs. in-person), cohort size, location, duration, etc.

Virtual Internship experience (VIX)

The Virtual Internship eXperience (VIX) is a project-based remote internship program that helps students grow into competent global citizens and professionals. We partner with innovative and award-winning social enterprises across Asia and carve out meaningful opportunities for students to engage with and create impact. The flexible program allows students to work 15 to 40 hours per week and from 3 to 12 weeks on projects that address one or more UN Sustainable Development Goals. The standard version of VIX includes a 30-hour course (Skills for Global Citizenship), mentoring by experienced professionals, career development support, and access to an exclusive alumni network. The lite version of VIX includes only the internship placement. VIX is ideal if less than 12 students from your institution are opting to do this internship with us.

VIX is priced at:

  • $1295 for the standard version (includes internship placement, Skills for Global Citizenship course, mentoring and career development support; group discounts available) and
  • $495 for VIX Lite (includes internship placement only)

3. Training and Consultative Services

Faculty seminars

In collaboration with seasoned experiential learning educators, Authentica will facilitate a 2-3 hour virtual workshop for study-abroad faculty to help them develop effective experiential learning courses for both the in-person and virtual contexts. Topics covered include: curriculum design, use of cultural immersions, reflection exercises, and assessment tools.

Faculty seminars are priced at $1890 per workshop (for up to 30 participants).
